Terracotta: AN.Susa Loan (Louvre), no. 4

Object: Male lute-player

Period: Bronze Age: First half of Second Millennium BC

Dimensions: H: 9cm. W: 5.5cm.

Region: Elam

Find Spot: Susa, (in red ink on the terracotta: 1863)

Description: headless; lower legs lost; seated; mouldmade; baked; pink core with cream slip; missing head originally reattached with bitumen in antiquity; wears necklace, with central pendant, and a tunic; holds the lute across the body as if playing it.
